What will Nebraska’s offense do going forward if Wan’Dale Robinson isn’t part of the picture?

-Robinson left the game in the first half with an ankle injury, and returned to the sidelines in a walking boot. He did say on Twitter that “he’ll be fine,” but who knows how long that means he’s out for

-Nebraska did see something with Kade Warner getting some catches in the 2nd half (when the game was effectively over), but that was SOMETHING at least. What’s the offense going to look like if Wan’Dale is out for a while?

The road losing streak ends at 8 games—Nebraska beats Illinois, 42-38, in another wild game

-It seems to never be easy for Nebraska—4 fumbles on their own side of the field, a 14-0 deficit early on, and more than 100 yards in penalties….but the better team did prevail eventually, with strong defense and an offense that put up a lot of yards and finally started to get more points on the board from it as the game went on

-Adrian Martinez was shaky in the first half, but was dialed in for the second half, as Nebraska ended up just shy of 700 (!!) yards of offense, and the defense held Illinois to less than 300 yards, even with a busted defensive play to start the game to give a long TD run to Reggie Corbin. The stats (outside of turnovers) indicate a Nebraska rout, yet the game was always in question, to the very end. The more things change, the more things stay the same…

Husker Afterparty Postgame: Illinois

Happer and Snow react to Nebraska’s 42-38 win over Illinois.

We talked about Nebraska needing to spread the ball out more, but is it time to give the ball MORE to Wan’Dale Robinson?

-Troy Walters mentioned on Wednesday that Wan’Dale is getting more carries as a running back in addition to wide receiver; Scott Frost also said on Thursday that they need to get him the ball more

-We’ve mentioned the need to get the ball to more WRs, as Spielman/Wan’Dale have all but one catch for WRs this season…but is it time to unleash Wan’Dale more and let him be special like Rondale Moore?

2 Days away from football, two Huskers suspended indefinitely, though

Troy Walters announced Wednesday that WR Andre Hunt and TE Katerion Legrone have been suspended indefinitely from the team. That would explain why Hunt wasn’t on the 2/3 deep at an of the WR spots. Is he a huge loss though? Doesn’t seem like it.

Also, Wan’Dale Robinson is providing ‘wows’ in practice, and no news on Maurice Washington. And how about Chris Hickman making a move at TE.

More audio from Wednesday’s practice

Can J.D. Spielman, Wan’Dale Robinson and Maurice Washington fix Nebraska’s poor kick/punt return game?

-When you’re at the bottom of the nation in a stat like that, like Nebraska was last year, it’s a big red flag and a major problem. Jovann Dewitt mentioned on Tuesday that he believes Spielman can be explosive, and the others, too

-Return game has really been an issue ever since the last days of DPE in 2014 (man, did we take that for granted)…can that be another part of Nebraska’s game this year that has a drastic improvement?

Who will be the bigger weapon on offense this year: Maurice Washington or Wan’Dale Robinson?

-This is all assuming that Maurice is cleared to play the whole season with the case in California still hanging in the balance—and that’s obviously not guaranteed. But, in a perfect world…

-Both are capable runners, and both are capable pass catchers. Who will be the most relied upon and dynamic of the two? Are they completely similar players, or are there differences that help separate one above the other? Maurice does have one year of experience under his belt already…

Observe and report—eyes were on practice again on Wednesday, what did we learn?

-Jahkeem Green was spotted and practicing, donning the #4 jersey, and looking like a DUDE among the d-linemen

-No Wan’Dale, Kanawai Noa, or Alex Davis at practice…any concerns there or just precautions?

-How about some physicality in the Nebraska Drill, and also the elusiveness of Mo Washington in that drill….wow….what else stood out to Sip from his time there?

6:25 – We’ve discussed offense and defense when it comes to getting Nebraska over the hump this year…but how much does special teams need to improve, and how much can it?

-We still go back to 2014 for the last time Nebraska had a big-time returner, with Demornay Pierson-El…since then? Not much. A decent return here or there, but in general—disappointing.

-How much emphasis should there be on finding solid returners in the Fall? Not just one guy—multiple. It’s a phase of the game that for some reason has been below average for 4 straight years at Nebraska. Can they emphasize the return game in camp? And who punts this year? Pickering solid at kicker….

-Maurice Washington’s next hearing pushed back for 3 days after Nebraska’s first game….should Scott Frost play him against South Alabama or not?

-If Washington wouldn’t play, who would you assume gets the carries behind Dedrick Mills?

-What’s a fair expectation for Wan’Dale Robinson in 2019?
