DP & Stephens: Erick Strickland

Husker Hall of Famer Erick Strickland kicks off the show!

  • Nebraska has won two in a row — last night was a ton of fun!
  • What does Strick see happening with Yvan?
  • Don’t get it mixed up, Rutgers is a good team — Nebraska just played extremely well.
  • Hoiberg has to feel some relief.
  • What does Strick hope for regarding Teddy Allen?

That and more with the former Husker!

A Bears fan wanted to take a picture with Jay Cutler in Vail, but Cutler made him chug a pitcher of beer to earn that right

-How about that for a badass move by Cutler? You want a picture with me? You have to earn it. Chug this pitcher of beer. Incredible.

-More people should demand feats like this, right?!

-Teddy Allen is no longer with Nebrasketball…what exactly happened here?

-How much roster turnover do you expect going into next year?

-Thoughts on win against Minnesota and last night’s Rutgers game…

Do you believe Nebrasketball can string together consecutive March Madness appearances under Fred Hoiberg?

-It’s not going to happen this year, and it didn’t happen in his first year. But why can’t it happen? Tim Miles made it one year, and it hadn’t happened at all for the previous 16 years before that. But Miles never got back to the Dance

-Rutgers would have made it last year and will make it this year—so that would be consecutive years for a typically down program. Do you believe that Hoiberg can get it going on a consistent basis? How soon?

Rick Kaczenski (Former Nebraska/Iowa DL coach)

-Are kids from Florida, Georgia, California, etc. aware of how cold it gets in Nebraska when they commit?

-North Dakota State just had a 39-game win streak snapped, but they’re playing without their star QB (Trey Lance), who is preparing for the NFL Draft. How ‘real’ is the spring season for FCS football?

-As a coach, do you trust a player who has transferred several times in college and/or high school?

Rutgers 3/1/2021

Terrance Badgett, Erick Strickland, DP and Connor Happer discuss a 72-51 Nebraska drubbing of Rutgers.

Parker Gabriel (Lincoln Journal Star) / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe)

-3 B1G West teams opted to play a bowl game, and Nebraska didn’t…should they have?

-Is Nebraska going to take a deep dive at special teams this offseason and address coaching there?

-Who was the offensive and defensive MVP for Nebraska this season in your opinion?

What are on Jake and Sip’s Husker Sports Wish Lists this Christmas for the 2021 calendar year?

-They get 3 wishes each…and it can be in any sport—and can be in all in one sport if they’d like (looking at you, Husker football)

-What wish would fans/listeners ask for in regards to 2021 as their Christmas wish for the year?

Sean Callahan (Husker Online)

-Nebraska’s season is officially over..were you surprised they turned down the bowl game after they beat Rutgers?

-What does the QB situation look like next year at Nebraska? What ground does Martinez stand on?

-Do you believe we will see any staff changes before next season?

Robin Washut (Husker Online) / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe)

-B1G hoops starts tonight for Nebrasketball! Can they hang with Wisconsin in Madison?

-Rutgers beats Illinois and moves close to the Top 10….can you make an argument that Steve Pikiell is a Top 3 coach in the league?

-Northwestern was supposed to be at the bottom of the league, but they just went and easily took care of Michigan State…is the conference just going to cannibalize itself this year?

Rick Kaczenski (Former Nebraska/Iowa DL coach)

-Nebraska beats Rutgers, gets to 3-5, and opts out of a bowl game. What was your reaction to that?

-Can Nebraska be a consistent run-heavy team like they were against Rutgers next year?

-Nebraska has been long plagued by turnovers and penalties…what can be done to clean it up?
