Nicole Griffith (10/11 News sports reporter) – Full Hour

-The Madness is back after a year off…how great has the start of this tournament been?

-What would Lincoln be like if Nebraska was a tournament-level team that was capable of winning a game or multiple games?

-What team would be more devastating if they make a run—Creighton or Iowa?

-Arizona football coach Jedd Fisch is opening up spring football practice for the media to view at all times…will we ever see something like that again at Nebraska?

-Is Scott Frost on any sort of ‘hot seat’ for the 2021 season? If not, why so?

-The game you’re most looking forward to watching today/tonight is…??

-Let’s all make fun of Texas one more time for losing to tiny Abilene Christian…terrible look

Jake has a STRONG proclamation for if Creighton were to lose today…

-Creighton is trying to make their first Sweet 16 since the field expanded to 64 teams. They had not won a first round game in the last 7 years before they LUCKILY survived 12-seed UC-Santa Barbara on Saturday, aided by a missed layup with 2 seconds left by the Gauchos, to win by one point

-Creighton now faces 13-seed Ohio, who upset 4-seed Virginia. If the Jays can’t get past a 13-seed and a 12-seed en route to their first Sweet 16, then they deserve endless crap to the end of time, and they know that, too

March Madness certainly has delivered so far…what a beautiful, wild, crazy tournament it is

-Your bracket is likely busted. And it’s for the better for the entertainment of the tourney that it is! The B1G went 6-3 in the first round, but had bad losses by 2-seed Ohio State to Oral Roberts, and 4-seed Purdue to North Texas.

-Abilene Christian stunned Texas, Ohio beat Virginia…and there’s more than that! The Round of 32 started yesterday and goes on today…how are Jake and Sip feeling about their shaved head bets for Iowa and Creighton? Also…VCU/Oregon canceled and Oregon moves on…at least it was only one game, though…the tournament has been smooth operating otherwise

The Drive: March 19th, 4pm – Will Oral Roberts pull off the upset

  • Talking about the tournament at Buffalo Wings & Rings
  • Oral Roberts up on Ohio State late in the second half, can they pull it off?

Iowa basketball is good this year, but they pissed off a legend to great lengths on Sunday / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe)

-Iowa AD Gary Barta announced following Iowa’s win against Wisconsin that the university would be retiring Luka Garza’s jersey for what he did in his illustrious career there

-The issue? Garza just this year broke the scoring record of Iowa great Roy Marble, who led the Hawkeyes to their only 30-win season ever, an NCAA regional final, and a Sweet 16. And his No. 23 jersey isn’t retired. And his son, Roy Devyn Marble, who was a very good player at Iowa—is PISSED, as is his family

Sip and Jake lament Nebraska’s lack of All-Americans in the last 10 years

-They make a depressing  comparison to the likes of Ohio State, Iowa and Wisconsin who have developed several All-Americans the last 10 years.

-They wonder what the path is to getting more All-Americans in scarlet and cream.

Corporate sponsorships have entered a new world…Michigan State basketball now has a ‘presenting sponsor’

-Yesterday, Michigan State announced that Rocket Mortgage will be the presenting sponsor for the next 5 years of Spartan basketball, and they’ll be known as “the MSU Spartans presented by Rocket Mortgage”

-With NIL coming soon, are we prepared to see more of this, and more logos/patches on player jerseys/helmets/etc. with business names on it? Is that attractive to you or unattractive?

Is anyone in the B1G ever going to catch up to Ohio State football?

-Sip and Jake have argued about what Nebraska needs to do most, and finally Sip has come around to Jake’s argument that Nebraska needs to have eyes focused on simply winning the division—THEN you can start talking about the conference championship being the goal. Can’t just jump to it right away.

-Still, even winning a division title leaves you a ways behind the Buckeyes. They are a machine that just won’t stop, and just finished as runner-up in last year’s college football season. It might be awhile for Nebraska…but is anyone in the same boat or close to Ohio State? Is anyone even catching up?

The Drive: January 12th, 4pm – Alabama is ridiculous and unfair

  • Every single part of it. The players, the scheme, the coaching, the program.
  • Best at everything
  • Ohio State needed probably a little bit more from Justin Fields. He was ok

Robin Washut (Husker Online) / Shut Up Sipple (Bagels & Joe)

-How concerning is Wan’Dale Robinson’s decision to transfer?

-Nebraska’s game against Illinois has been cancelled followed COVID positive test by Tier 1 staff. How does this affect the season?

-The Huskers fell to Indiana 84-76 in Derrick Walker’s Nebraska debut. Did Walker’s first performance create momentum in the program that Fred Hoiberg can build on?

Nick Saban further cements himself as the best coach of all time

-Was this his best team? Quarterback Mac Jones told reporters following the game that he believes this is the best team ever.

-With three Heisman candidates, an elite defense and an offensive line which received Heisman hype itself, where does 2020 Alabama rank among the best of all time?

-How far is Nebraska from a National Championship?
