DP & Stephens: Husker Football Discussion

We continue to dive into the state of the program.

  • How comfortable are we with Adrian?
  • Logan Smothers talk
  • What’s next for Kade Warner?

In (hopefully) good news…Nebrasketball starts their season TOMORROW!

-McNeese State, come on down! And boy, does this state need some good news…come on, Hoiberg!

-The Golden Window Classic has changes in it pretty much every day…what’s the update on it now?

-Tim Miles’ second year at Nebraska followed a tough first year and ended in a surprise 4th place finish in the conference…can Hoiberg’s team surprise this year or still too far away?

-Nebraska has 20 league games scheduled..how many do you think get played with COVID issues all over the place?

Does Nebraska football truly want to be good or are they just used to losing now?

-It’s a serious question. They brag about being ready to play a football game, and then show up with nothing when the games are played

-Northwestern went 3-9 last year, and Pat Fitzgerald simply said that isn’t going to happen again, and they are now 5-0. It’s not the prettiest football, but they play physical, tough, disciplined football. Because they want to. Does Nebraska want that? Do they care? What, exactly, drives Nebraska football? They’re headed toward their third straight sub-.500 football season, and their 5th in that regard in the past 6 years. Unreal.

Jake’s NFL Week 11 Winners and Losers

-The Dolphins are certainly not on the winners list this week…who was a winner, though?

-Also, SONG OF THE DAY (sponsored by Sartor Hamann Jewelers)

Rick Kaczenski (Former Nebraska/Iowa DL coach)

-How can you explain a Nebraska team that was lacking energy last week after their first win of the year?

-Why should anyone believe that Friday’s game against Iowa will be close at all? What is going on?

-Do you see a football program that wants to truly be good or not? And why not, if that’s the case?

Yesterday’s press conference left Sip and Jake (and all of Nebraska) scratching their heads even more than usual regarding Husker football

-Kade Warner and Wan’Dale Robinson basically confirmed that they didn’t practice very hard last week and that they never ran routes at full speed for Luke McCaffrey to get comfortable with

-They also said the energy was better today, but that’s beside the point. What is going on? Why is there no enthusiasm? Do the players want Martinez to be the QB? Is there disagreement inside the locker room? How can things be this out of control?

-More from the press conference…
