The Recruiting Hour: March 15th – Opening Segment

  • NebPreps Boys High School Basketball State Tournament
  • Happer and DP did such a great job calling those games this last week
  • Chucky Hepburn and Hunter Sallis were a treat to watch

We’ve talked about how good the current high school basketball talent is in the state…but the football talent is damn good also, but will they stick around?

-We all know about basketball with Hunter Sallis, Chucky Hepburn, Isaac Traudt, and more…and none of them will likely end up at Nebraska. But Sam McKewon wrote the other day about the football talent for the class of 2022 and it’s one of the best ever in Nebraska, with players like Deshawn Woods, Ernest Hausmann, Kaden Helms, Devon Jackson, and Micah Riley-Ducker all having double-digit offers…

-Also, Sip gets his wish…a BIG MAN commits to Nebrasketball! Blaise Keita…2022 JUCO big man

If you wanted good news this weekend, Hunter Sallis didn’t deliver it to you: Nebrasketball doesn’t make the top 12 (!) of his first cut of choices

-OUCH. First, there was news on Friday that Sallis had an offer from Kentucky, which would be hard to pass up. But then, not only was Nebraska not on his Top 12…but Creighton (who we haven’t heard much about in his pursuit) showed up, albeit unlikely that he goes there

-We knew it would be hard to get him to commit to Nebraska…but not even in his top 12? Does it ease the pain of not getting him with knowing that off the bat?

-Cam Mack withdraws his name from the draft and now is hearing from small schools like East Carolina, New Mexico State, UTEP, Rhode Island and others…what does his future look like?

-Does the lack of success from highly-ranked JUCOs (Cam Mack, Jervay Green) steer Nebrasketball from recruiting those hard going forward?

-Nebraska gets 2 players (Davis twins) taken in Day 3 of the NFL Draft…what happened to Lamar Jackson?

Recapping last night’s Millard North vs. Lincoln North Star high school hoops showdown

-Steve and Jake made the trip up to Omaha last night to watch the game live. What were their impressions of the game overall?

-What did Steve and Jake think of all of the high school in Nebraska that was on display last night?

Hunter Sallis has been named Nebraska’s first ever 5-star basketball player

-Millard North’s Hunter Sallis moved up 27 spots in the recent Rivals rankings to number 20 in he nation for the class of 2021; officially becoming a 5-star player.

-Sip and Jake discuss if there has ever been a better time for high school hoops fans in the state of Nebraska. Hunter Sallis is joined by Max Murell and Chucky Hepburn are also ranked as top 150 players in the country, with Donovan Williams trialing just behind the top 150 rankings. Would it be a bad look if none of them end up attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?
