The Spillover with Connor Happer and Mike Schaefer

-Isn’t it amazing how much people still care about Tim Tebow? It seemed like a given he wouldn’t make the Jaguars roster, as he hadn’t played football in a few years and didn’t really have a position

-As we get closer to the Illinois game, are you feeling more confident about a win for the Huskers or less?

-Mike Dawson was pretty ‘mum’ about naming specific people in special teams on Monday…do you think they have things figured out or not?

-As you look at the B1G West, is Wisconsin for sure the best team or do you lean somewhere else?

Put your name on it right now: Is Nebraska 3-0 heading into the Oklahoma game or will they have a loss before it?

-This isn’t our official record for the season—it’s just the first 3 games. The first 3 games are gettable, yet scary with a conference foe on the road and a Buffalo team that has beaten Power 5 teams in the past, despite having a new coach this year.

Sean Callahan (Husker Online)

-Nebraska football has had difficulty putting teams away…do you see a close game for sure against Illinois, regardless of which team wins?

-10 days away from Husker football…will it be Gabe Ervin or Markese Stepp getting the first running back carry?

-Nebraska and Michigan are the only schools as of now in the B1G that aren’t selling alcohol…how long will that be the case for?

If Nebraska is big-time negative in plus/minus in turnover margin this year, what does that tell us about the team?

-Last year, Nebraska was -11 in turnover margin; 7 forced by the defense, and 18 given away by the offense. It’s a constant issue we discuss every year, but it’s discussed because it still remains a problem

-If it remains a problem this year—and we’re not close to level on margin—what does that tell us about the team? Lack of discipline? Lack of focus? Do we go back to talent, even though we’ve said this is the best-looking team Frost has had so far?

-The conference commissioners have had preliminary discussions about an alliance which would not force a change of conferences for the different teams in their leagues

-Also, how about former Husker baseball player Jake Meyers hitting 2 home runs on Saturday night for the Astros, with one being a grand slam?!

A tweet sent at Jake that was supposed to be disparaging actually brings some clarity of a connection between Nebraska football and Garth Brooks

-Jake made fun of Iowa in a tweet (typical), and got tough response about it, but one tweet said this: “Name a more iconic duo that hasn’t been relevant since the 90s than Garth Brooks and Nebraska”

-The tweet does make sense, but think about this: Garth Brooks isn’t creating new content, but he’s still playing the hits and drawing thousands and thousands of fans. Think about if Nebraska ‘embraced the hits’ and was able to go power football. Great at it once, went away for awhile…but imagine how bad ass it would be to come back and start to win the way they used to

-Also, how about Dedrick Mills showing out for the Lions in preseason NFL action?

Scott Frost seemed less concerned about the tight ends’ injuries on Friday than we’ve been hinting

-Frost spoke to the media Friday, and the concern we’ve been hearing about Travis Vokolek and Austin Allen is that they might be missing some serious time….that’s not what it sounds like from Frost’s vantage point

-Are we backing off of Code Red for the injury department there?
