Mike Schaefer (Nebraska 247 Sports): Part 1

-Are people still excited about Nebraska football? If not, how long does it take to earn that back?

-Who do you think we’ll see start for Nebraska at QB on Saturday? Who SHOULD it be?

-What’s going on with Scott Frost’s playcalling, especially in the red zone?

Are people aware of what starts today? THE FREAKING MASTERS STARTS TODAY

-Usually, Jake is distracted by this great tournament in mid-April. Now? It’s November. How locked in will he be and golf fanatics? And Sip?

Midway through the season, what is the best story in college football?

-Indiana is ranked 10th at 3-0, BYU is 8th at 8-0 and a stud QB, Liberty is 7-0 with 2 wins vs. ACC teams…

-What is the feeling of a Nebraska fan when they see ranked teams like Liberty, Coastal Carolina, Iowa State, Indiana, Marshall, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Northwestern, while you’re 0-2?

Erik Chinander isn’t the point of frustration through 2 games, can it stay that way?

-52 points against Ohio State obviously wasn’t great, nor was forcing only one incompletion against Justin Fields, but the defense has looked better in general, and wasn’t the problem against Northwestern, either

-Luke Reimer has looked great, as has Ty Robinson. The D-line has looked good in general…the DBs have looked OK, and the LBs have been better than they were last year. Are we seeing legitimate progress or too early to say?

-Post-practice Zoom audio from Wednesday…

Is Saturday going to be a ground-and-pound game for the offense, or do they need to open it up?

-Wisconsin might be without 3 QBs, but they still have a stout defense, which held Illinois to just 7 points in the opener. No matter what Nebraska does defensively, it won’t change the challenge that faces the offense

-We said that Dedrick Mills is a major key to the team before the season, and even though he scored a TD against Ohio State, he wasn’t that important. He was great against the Badgers last year…will that happen again? Nebraska must find ways to not turn the ball over and convert in the red zone

Erik Chinander will speak today after practice, as well as other defensive assistants…how will he explain the struggles against Indiana?

-Scott Frost spent some of his Monday press conference defending Chinander and his ability to coach a defense, and there are obviously lots of grumblings in the fanbase about his defense at the moment. What can he say today that will inspire confidence in things getting figured out?
