Early Break: Stanley Morgan does well at the Combine, but Iowa’s Noah Fant once again slaps Nebraska with a great showing

  • Morgan ran a 4.53 (not in the top 15 of WRs), did 14 reps of 225lbs on bench, but his 38.5” vertical jump was 7th best out of WRs
  • Meanwhile, Iowa continues to show they are Tight End U, with Noah Fant and TJ Hockenson owning the Combine. Fant, at 249 pounds, ran a 4.51 40-yard-dash (!!) and also had a 39.5” vertical jump and 10’5” broad jump, all which were first out of tight ends. Nebraska missed out badly on an in-state kid there.
  • Other news at the combine

Early Break: Jake needs someone to tell him why it’s so important what Kyler Murray’s height, weight, and hand size are

  • The biggest football news of the day on Thursday was that Kyler Murray measured just over 5’10”, weighed 207 pounds, and 9.5” hand size at the NFL Combine.
  • Apparently those measures now make him more of a possibility of a Top 10 pick than what he would be if just under 5’10”, below 207 pounds, and under 9.5” hand size.
  • Do people not realize how ridiculous all of this is?

To stay at Senior Bowl practices or to be with your wife in labor, the answer might surprise you for one player

  • Western Illinois defensive lineman Khalen Saunders is at the Senior Bowl this week in hopes of boosting his NFL draft status, but he was informed early Tuesday that his wife was going into labor—9 days before she was supposed to—and she ended up having the baby on Tuesday night
  • After discussing with his wife though…they both decided it was the right decision for him to stay at the Senior Bowl practices and not be there for the birth. Right call, or crazy?
