The Husker defense says they’re ready for the bright lights…by what game are we allowed to say they’re ‘back’?

It’s been the message of Fall so far that the defense has made strides, and Tuesday’s post-practice media session continued that vibe. But when assessing if they are truly better, and possibly even WAY better, what’s our barometer test for them? Can’t go off of the South Alabama game…do we have to wait until the Ohio State game (game 5) before we can assess if they’re a good defense, or can we assess it after Colorado/Northern Illinois?

Depth charts are out for Husker football and Scott Frost speaks…what are the biggest newsmakers?

-What were the surprises on the depth chart? Maybe not ‘surprises,’ but Collin Miller listed as a starting ILB (with Will Honas getting the OR); Caleb Tannor gets a starting OLB spot, Jaevon McQuitty is JD Spielman’s backup…and we also have a starting punter listed!

-Also, Blackshirts announced…who all got one on defense? And great comments from Scott Frost on former Husker coming in to discuss what those mean….Jay Foreman!!

-More from Frost…

Scott Frost has interesting ideas for the use of the alternate jerseys / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe)

-Frost mentioned Friday he would like to in the future have an alternate Blackshirts jersey for both home and away…brilliant concept?

Stopping the run is the name of the game this year for Nebraska’s defense….can they make the strides they need to?

-Scott Frost, Mohamed Barry and Khalil Davis were asked plenty of questions about the defense and how it can improve at Media Days last week…what signs do you see that it can indeed improve?

-Is Darrion Daniels’ presence enough to feel like Nebraska can stop the run? What’s a number they need to get to in yards per game allowed to make a move up the ranks?
