How much, if anything, can we learn about the strength of the B1G this bowl season—and will it matter in future years for the CFP?

-The B1G had a great bowl season in 2017-18, but still had no teams in the playoff itself. Looking at the match-ups this year, it looks like the B1G should be able to have another good record in bowl season…but does that mean the conference is strong? How much do we actually learn in bowl season?
