Patrick Mahomes is now a member of the KC Royals ownership group

-What a life for the young QB. Just gets an unbelievably massive deal, and now is a part-owner of an MLB team in his mid-20s. Not a bad life right there

-Can he find a way to get an NHL or NBA team to KC now? Think of how much more popular he’d be then if he did that

-Sip says that Adrian Martinez is for sure a better QB than Tanner Morgan…do you agree?

-Parker saw Thomas Fidone in action last weekend…what were his impressions?

Several NFL players announced yesterday they’ll opt out of playing this season, is college football going to have the same problem?

-The Patriots had 6 players yesterday opt out of the season, and a few others around the league have opted for the same. This could all be an evil plan for Bill Belichick to tank an ‘asterisk’ season and get Trevor Lawrence, so who knows. But still, it’s news

-Will this leak into college football? And how many more players will choose to opt out of the NFL season? The next few weeks will be interesting in all the sports that are going on.

Sean Callahan (Husker Online)

-Ohio State says they’ll cap attendance at 20% for this football season and ban tailgating….is a similar scenario possible/likely at Nebraska? And how soon will we hear?

-Are we going to have clarity on the season ahead by the end of this week or beginning of next week? When will we know the revised schedule if so?

-MLB is having issues with COVID cases already…are the leagues that are back going now going to finish as scheduled?

Ohio State announces if the season exists, they’ll have 20,000 people maximum in attendance and no tailgating

-It’s hard to envision only 20,000 people in the stands being a ‘win’ for sports, but it absolutely is in this weird year of 2020. If that happens at Nebraska, how would they choose who gets to go? Highest donors? Longest ticketholders?

-And what about tailgating? People would be bummed to not go to games, but the banning of tailgating would be incredibly sad for fans. It essentially makes downtown and the Haymarket a no-go, which makes sense for trying to limit COVID cases, but it’s just an absolute bummer if it goes that route here

What would be in Sip and Jake’s bubble?

-People are now saying that the NFL needs to have a bubble like the NBA is doing to have a chance to play, after seeing problems already in MLB without a bubble. If Jake and Sip had to live in a bubble, what would they need to be OK with never leaving for a period of time?

Would you ever consider a Husker win over Minnesota as an ‘upset’?

-Jake saw an Athlon Sports write-up yesterday and was disgusted to see a Nebraska win over Minnesota as an ‘upset’ this year, but most would say that when comparing expectations for the programs. What a terrible thought that is, and something we would have mocked as recently as 2 years ago when Scott Frost got his first win of the season in blowout fashion over the Gophers

-But then again, Nebraska has missed 3 straight bowls. They’ll be underdogs in most league games. Would they be upsets though? We shouldn’t be shocked to beat the likes of Iowa, right? Jeez.

If Notre Dame did join a conference full-time beyond 2020, what conference should they join?

-The Big 10 would make A LOT of sense, but they are joining the ACC for this upcoming year, temporarily. Which conference would want them the most? Where do they belong?

Rick Kaczenski (Former Nebraska/Iowa DL coach)

-Kaz’s alma mater (Notre Dame) is going to play a 10-game ACC schedule in 2020…does Kaz want them to consider joining the league full-time or stay independent as usual in the future?

-It (appears) like we will have much less media access than previous years to Nebraska football…could a lack of attention help players focus more and possibly surprise this season?

-MLB already having COVID issues after the opening weekend…how is this all going to end?

We’re only 3 days into baseball season and already reaching pivotal moments in how leagues/sports will deal with COVID outbreaks

-The Miami Marlins reported 8 players/coaches in the organization that had tested positive for COVID-19, and they canceled Monday’s game against the Orioles because of that

-The Phillies had just played the Marlins, so they canceled their opening home game against the Yankees for last night, as well. But for all the reports that the league would be canceled altogether, that was not the case

-Is this going to just get goofy everyday going forward or will it start to even out? You know the NFL and NCAA and other leagues are watching closely every minute….
