NFL approves a 7th playoff team per conference, and announces what networks will pick up the games…do you like 2 additional wild card games?

-Sports Business Daily reported yesterday that CBS and NBC will both pick up a game, and NBC will stream the game on their Peacock service, and CBS will also simulcast their game on….Nickelodeon. They’re trying to tailor to young fans. Thoughts on all of this?

What If Wednesday: What if ESPN reversed its decision on the Nebraska football 30-for-30 episode about the 1994-95 team and went forward with it?

-We heard in 2016 about plans for ESPN to produce a 30-for-30 episode on that team, but then learned in late August 2017 that they decided to not go forward with it

-Now is the time more than ever to get things like that up and airing on TV with no sports going on…what would be most interesting about that potential show? And what other Nebraska-featured items would be interesting on a 30-for-30?

-NCAA allows athletes from spring sports to return to school for a senior year next year if they choose…how’s that going to look with scholarships and size of roster with incoming freshmen, too?

-Some are mad that winter athletes weren’t allowed to come back, even though they completed 90%+ of their season and didn’t have a chance to play for a championship…thoughts?

-When do you think a deadline will be to decide on whether there is a college football season or not?

Sunday is National Nebraska Day, and ESPNU is airing 10 straight hours of great sports moments from the state to celebrate….what games would make your list?

-They are sharing the love between Nebraska, Creighton, and UNO—for example, UNO’s win to get to the Frozen Four in hockey; Nebraska volleyball’s national title win over Texas in 2015; a Creighton basketball game with a buzzer-beater; the flea-kicker in 1997 for Husker football; and a CWS game

-If you had to choose 8 events across all of Husker sports to air on an all-day ‘best of’ network series, what would you choose? And you CAN’T use all football games for this scenario

-For Nebrasketball….No Sit Sunday, the Big 8 championship in 1994, or the NIT championship..or another game? Football has many choices, as does Husker volleyball….

Phil Mickelson hinted that he and Tiger Woods might be setting up a match to be played soon…would Sip tune in for that in these sports-starved times?

-Mickelson hinted at the possibility in a Twitter exchange on Sunday, and said there would be more details soon. The Masters has already been postponed, as well as the U.S. Open, and all sorts of other sporting events…wouldn’t it just make perfect sense for this match to happen to save sports fans?

-Yesterday marked a full year since Fred Hoiberg signed the contract to be Nebrasketball’s newest coach…what have we learned in this first year?

-Is there any reason for Nebrasketball fans to lose optimism for the program under Hoiberg after a 7 win first year or is that foolish?

-Nebrasketball sets a 3-year series with Kansas State starting this year..any other scheduling news on the horizon?

Some believe that the NFL and/or NBA should look at the Midwest to play their games this season if COVID-19 doesn’t slow down…sounds like Sip’s idea got stolen

-Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio suggested the NFL should have a contingency plan to play their games “in the middle of nowhere”—meaning the Midwest—and there have been similar comments made about the NBA, too, as coronavirus has not spread as badly in the center of the Midwest as it has in most other places

-Take Sip’s idea for college football to do his idea and play in small towns, and then blow that up times a million with the idea of NBA and NFL games being played in venues in Nebraska or other towns. Can you even imagine?

One positive of being cooped up right now? Watching old concerts or seeing different musicians stream live concerts now

-Jake watched a little bit of an old Garth Brooks concert on Sunday night and Sip went down the Tom Petty rabbit hole on Saturday…anyone else out there been experiencing concerts of old or new live concerts on Instagram or any other platforms?

-If you had the option to play an abbreviated football season with no postseason or no football season at all, what would you choose and what would players choose?

-Sip thinks if fans aren’t allowed to be at games in the Fall, that games should be played in small-town stadiums to make it less awkward for players and TV viewing…thoughts?

-The NFL Draft is still on as planned with no change to the dates…can teams really have full evaluations of players in time for that with the current nationwide quarantining?

Yesterday marked a full year since Fred Hoiberg officially signed his contract to be Nebrasketball’s next coach…has your outlook changed at all since then?

-Jake remembers the day vividly—Sip called him to inform him of the news, and Jake almost burst into tears he was so happy. It was a great time to be a Nebrasketball fan, for sure.

-Then, a 7-25 campaign that ended with a 17 game losing streak happened, some players left, and we head into Year 2 with excitement about certain pieces, and still questions for others. Where did we think we’d be at a year into this new regime and how far away is Nebraska from becoming a player again in the conference? What do you think Hoiberg thought this program would look like one year in?
