Sip’s conversation with John Cook last week gave Jake a brilliant idea

-Sip wrote about John Cook and how long he’ll be coaching, and it seems like a while still—but also the conversation mentioned that Cook loves Mazatlan. Maybe Sip (or someone also at the Journal Star) could ask all the coaches their favorite meals at restaurants in Lincoln, and they could get their namesake on it…marketing genius…and who wouldn’t want to order a coach’s favorite food? (Jake saw this in Lawrence, KS once at a restaurant that had an item named for Bill Self’s favorite meal)

Bob Knight returned to Indiana on Saturday for the first time in 20 years…is it time for Nebraska to bring Frank Solich back soon? / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe)

-The divorce between Knight and Indiana has been mostly ugly, with Knight being very critical of the Hoosiers publicly for years following his firing

-It hasn’t been vocal hatred or ridicule by Frank Solich of Nebraska by any means, but we all know there’s frustration and resentment at levels. Should Nebraska look at bringing him back to be honored at some time soon?

Nebraska enters the 2020 season with the 2nd most offensive production returning in the nation…how much of an impact can that make?

-It might not make a difference at all—it’s good when the production coming back was really good…Nebraska has good players, but they missed a bowl game with the majority of the offense coming back in 2020

-Is this an overrated stat measure for a team that wasn’t great last year or a sign that things might click and come together? Nebraska is No. 82 in returning defensive production and No. 17 overall

Four Huskers get invites to the NFL Combine…which player(s) do you think will have the most success in the league?

-Darrion Daniels, Lamar Jackson, Khalil Davis and Carlos Davis all got invites to the Combine…what would it mean for the program if all 4 of those to get drafted?

-Also, SONG OF THE DAY (sponsored by Sartor Hamann Jewelers):

The XFL made its return this weekend…did you watch and do you care?

-The DC Defenders beat the Seattle Dragons, 31-19, in the first game on Saturday, and the Houston Roughnecks beat the Los Angeles Wildcats, 37-17, in day’s second game. There were 2 other games on Sunday, too

-Things people have liked: lots of mic’d up coach segments, the kickoff rule, and the focus on making gambling a part of the broadcasts. Still…the play isn’t great, and as Sip has said before, if the QBs aren’t good, then it won’t be that interesting. And the QBs have been….average at best. Also, why are we penalizing unnecessary roughness?
