Nick Saban says that Gus Malzahn was ‘unfair’ for his substitution trick at the end of Alabama’s loss to Auburn

-Jake loves it, but Sip likes Alabama, so maybe he’s on Saban’s side. But that would be silly, of course. Gus Malzahn tricked Nick Saban, and that doesn’t happen. How happy were listeners about the Alabama loss and their first time (likely) missing the College Football Playoff?

Year 3 is going to require less excuses from Scott Frost and blame to previous coaches / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe)

-Year 1, completely understand a frustration by Scott Frost about what he inherited. Year 2? Seems like there was a lot of blame still, where that’s not the case at most places. How concerned about Frost will you be if there are still conversations about the culture here next year, and leading into next year?

Two straight years of no postseason means a QB competition is completely justifiable for 2020

-Adrian Martinez was not great against Iowa. His downfield throws weren’t even close to Spielman. He gets some protection from media, but he deserves some heat. He didn’t stay in bounds on Nebraska’s final drive, which would have helped the game go to OT rather than give Iowa the ball back. And, although it’s a full team effort, he hasn’t done enough to get Nebraska to a bowl game for 2 straight years

-What does this picture look like next year? Luke McCaffrey wants to play, and has shown he’s a gamer. Noah Vedral can play, too, and Logan Smothers will want a piece of the action, too. Are we all OK with a wide-open competition next year, where the starter EARNS and WINS the job?

Minnesota fails miserably and gets waxed by Wisconsin..can the Badgers push Ohio State at all the second time around?

-Wisconsin beat Minnesota, 38-17, to win the West division, setting up a rematch from earlier this year with Ohio State, who beat them 38-7 (oh, and Ohio State just beat Michigan, 56-27). Any chance of an upset, or more of the same for the dominant Buckeyes?

You’re probably mad about the defense on the final drive, but Nebraska played well otherwise, except for the first quarter

-Nebraska continuously called the swing pass but it never worked… why didn’t Frost shelve it or was he waiting on Iowa to jump the route?

– Martinez completed 10 passes for 50 yards… do we have a competition? A preview to the first segment of the second hour.
