Urban Meyer on FOX is going to be fantastic for college football

-Meyer was asked by the host of the FOX pregame show if this was Michigan’s year, and he responded, “their year for what?”….and went on to give them some credit, but definitely gave plenty of reasons to not believe in them

-Meyer also said he believes Nebraska will win the West and has high belief in Adrian Martinez

Scott Frost has interesting ideas for the use of the alternate jerseys / Shut Up Sipple (sponsored by Bagels & Joe)

-Frost mentioned Friday he would like to in the future have an alternate Blackshirts jersey for both home and away…brilliant concept?

What are the biggest reasons why we believe Scott Frost’s tenure at Nebraska will be better than Bo Pelini’s?

-This is not meant to be a diss at either coach; it’s actually an interesting question. Pelini took over a 5-7 team when he started in 2008, and his second season, he delivered the nation’s top defense, and was one second away from winning the Big 12 Championship. Optimism was high, and in his third year, they again made the Big 12 title game, but blew a 17-0 lead and loss to Oklahoma. He won at least 9 games every year, and appeared in 3 of 7 conference title games

-What is your biggest reason why you think Frost can get over the hump that Bo was so close to getting over but couldn’t? There’s a chance that Bo’s first and second seasons deliver better results than Frost’s first 2 seasons, but there still could be valid reasons to believe in Frost more than Pelini. Interesting dynamic.

College football returned on Saturday, with sloppy play on the field AND on the College GameDay set

-Florida beat Miami (FL), 24-20, in a sloppy game to start the college football campaign (albeit with a 4.1 overnight rating, the highest on ESPN since November 2016); but it wasn’t just that. What got into Lee Corso and also Desmond Howard on College GameDay? Insanity.

Andrew Luck retires from the NFL, and the world is up in arms about what the hell just happened

-You want hot takes? Look around Twitter in the hours following Luck’s announcement. People were ALL OVER the place with their assessments. And Luck even got booed at his own stadium as he walked off the field!

-Now that we’ve had some more time to assess the situation, what are Sip and Jake’s (and listeners) thoughts on what went down? Is it the most shocking retirement in sports history? He’s only 29 years old. People bring up Barry Sanders and Jim Brown as shocking, and Michael Jordan…
