A study of NFL team fandom shows Dallas Cowboys have the best fans…buying that?

-Emory University professor Mike Lewis completed his annual study on team fandom, and saw that the Cowboys have the best fans, and the Rams have the worst fans, just ahead of the….Chiefs?!

Frank Beamer and Steve Spurrier set to coach in next January’s Polynesian Bowl….would Tom Osborne ever get back on the sidelines for one last go?

-Before you laugh—in 2018, 81-year-old Dick Vermeil was one of the coaches for one of the teams, so don’t say Osborne is too old at 82…and we’ve seen Bill Snyder coach into his late 70s in actual college football…would Tom ever give it a go for something like this?

How great would it be to see the living legend one last time with the headset on? In the same era that Scott Frost is Nebraska’s head coach?! What a visual that would be.

Where is Adrian Martinez going this year when Nebraska gets to the red zone?

-CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli pointed out yesterday in a column about Nebraska that the offense averaged 30.0 ppg last year (58th in the country), but the real problem was their red zone efficiency, converting only 61.36 percent of possessions into TDs (7th in B1G/67th in nation)

-Here’s the problem: Stanley Morgan is gone. As Sip pointed out yesterday when he took Minnesota’s Tyler Johnson as the guy he wants more on offense in the conference than anyone else, Nebraska doesn’t have a big-bodied WR to rely on. Can the offense be creative enough to get looks for Wan’Dale/J.D. in the red zone for TDs? Or are the TEs going to be essential this year?

Bubba Starling officially, FINALLY, called to the majors with the Kansas City Royals…where does he rank in ‘what if’ prospects for Nebraska football?

-Starling was listed as the No. 6 dual-threat QB in the 2011 class, before getting selected 5th overall by the Royals in the MLB Draft, and skipping his college education to do so

-You have to be happy for Bubba, at least, for sticking it out—he was viewed as a bust for many years before finally getting things figured out and become a factor…a late bloomer
