With all of these magazines picking Nebraska to win the West, does it stem from more of a team talent or is it the favorable schedule?

Let’s look at the secondary, is that going to be the bright spot on the defensive side this season?

New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur compares Eli Manning and Daniel Jones in a very interesting way…

  • Shurmur told media on Monday that Jones and Manning are very calm in their approach, but they’re both “fiery under the covers.” Oh yes, we have audio of him saying that. What kind of comment is that?
  • 2 minute drill: Richie Incognito back in the NFL with the Raiders…but should he be?

  • Toughest road game for Nebraska this year is…?
  • Any commitments expected any time soon?
  • Why does Northwestern not get any respect once again?

Back to more football schedule talk…great teams go on the road and win games…how should Nebraska fans expect the team to fare with their 5 road games?

  • Nebraska’s best opponents are in Lincoln, but you have to go on the road to Colorado, Minnesota, Purdue, Maryland, and Illinois…which of those games is Nebraska most likely to lose? And could Nebraska really go undefeated on the road, or is that too much to ask for? When you predict an 8-4 record (which most people do), how many of those are road losses?
  • None of those environments provides a huge fanbase (except for the amount of Husker fans who will be in Boulder)…is that enough to give you confidence in winning away from Lincoln?

Song of the Day brings an interesting comparison to Nickelback…

“Detroit Rock City” by Kiss was the Jake’s Song of the Day, and although Sip liked the song, listeners compared Kiss to Nickelback, which then Sip compares Hootie and the Blowfish to Nickelback, and Jake isn’t having it.

  • Rutgers TE transfer Travis Vokolek visited Lincoln yesterday…does Nebraska have room for him at a position that’s pretty deep with young talent?
  • Thoughts on Husker Baseball’s chances in Oklahoma City for NCAA Tournament?
  • Is Minnesota the sleeper team of the West? Scarier team than Purdue or not?
