Early Break: How much does Sip care about the NBA playoffs without his beloved LeBron to cheer for?

  • It’s the first time in 8 years that LeBron hasn’t been in the playoffs, as his Lakers were terrible and weren’t even close to making it—the playoffs certainly seem to have a different vibe without him
  • How much will Finals/playoffs ratings, in general, suffer without The King? Down 26% so far…
  • Also, Hot Take’s grades for the show for the week:

Early Break: Chris Basnett (Lincoln Journal Star) / Shut Up Sipple

  • Cam Mack says he’ll visit Nebrasketball…what exactly would he bring if he committed to Hoiberg?
  • Are you convinced this season has to be bad for Nebrasketball, or could they actually be decent if they get some decent grad transfers?
  • How soon do you expect to see some commits for Abdelmassih/Gates in recruiting?

Early Break: Has the B1G started to level out in terms of strength of divisions?

  • The past years, the East was a beast—Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Michigan State all beat up on each other, and the division was perceived not only as the best in the conference—but one of the best in the nation.
  • Urban Meyer is now gone at Ohio State, Michigan State has no QB, Penn State has lost star power the past 2 years in Barkley/McSorley, and Michigan is good but not great. Meanwhile, Minnesota and Nebraska are on the uptick in the West, and Nebraska/Wisconsin/Northwestern all have exciting young QBs, and Purdue/Iowa still have capable offense/teams

Early Break: Darin Erstad says he hates everybody he plays against—is that normal or is he just overly intense?

  • Erstad met with media yesterday before the team heads to Iowa for a weekend series, and said that he hated teams when he was playing, and he still hates them now as a coach. Nebraska fans generally ‘hate’ Iowa and Wisconsin in sports, but do they hate anyone else?
  • Also, SONG OF THE DAY:

Early Break: Oklahoma gets a 5-star commit at RB in 2020 and is the leader for another…can Nebraska get anything like that?

  • Jase McClellan, the 4th ranked RB in the 2020 class and a 5-star player, is a commit for the Sooners, and Kendall Milton, the 2nd ranked RB in the 2020 class and also a 5-star, has Oklahoma has the leader for his services at the moment
  • Nebraska did have a time in the Pelini era where they had three 4-stars at RB (Rex Burkhead, Aaron Green, Braylon Heard), but only Burkhead stuck around his whole career….can Oklahoma-type recruiting be achieved here?
