Early Break: Targeting rules set to get even stricter for punishment in college football….too muc / Shut Up Sipple

  • New targeting rule, is college football going too far with the rule changes or is this the right decision
  • The NCAA proposed on Friday a rule-change for targeting—which is expected to be approved—that says a player’s 2nd targeting violation of the SEASON not only ejects them from the remainder of that game, but it forces them to miss the entire next game (it had previously been just the first half of the next game)
  • Shut up Sipple

Early Break: Spring Ball begins today! Football is BACK! What is the main goal for the next 1.5 months?

  • Jake’s biggest desire is NO INJURIES, get through Spring ball with good health for the team.
  • How much can we learn about what’s coming in the Fall from Spring ball? The media still can’t watch much of practice (90 minutes total all spring before the Red/White game), so it will mostly be from what players and coaches tell us.
    • Are you excited for the Spring ball or do you just want the fall to come already?
  • What players to watch for

Early Break: Husker Baseball shows over the weekend that maybe they’re not so bad after all

  • In the Frisco Classic, Nebraska rode excellent pitching to a 2-1 win over 3rd-ranked Texas Tech, and then blew a big lead and lost to Sam Houston State, 11-10, which was a bummer
    • They showed they can compete against high level competition
  • Now on to Waco with a series against Baylor
  • Song of the Day

Early Break: Stanley Morgan does well at the Combine, but Iowa’s Noah Fant once again slaps Nebraska with a great showing

  • Morgan ran a 4.53 (not in the top 15 of WRs), did 14 reps of 225lbs on bench, but his 38.5” vertical jump was 7th best out of WRs
  • Meanwhile, Iowa continues to show they are Tight End U, with Noah Fant and TJ Hockenson owning the Combine. Fant, at 249 pounds, ran a 4.51 40-yard-dash (!!) and also had a 39.5” vertical jump and 10’5” broad jump, all which were first out of tight ends. Nebraska missed out badly on an in-state kid there.
  • Other news at the combine
    • Who the guys like and who we might be seeing on Sundays.
