Can we learn anything tonight from Nebrasketball’s season opener against Mississippi Valley State?

-This one counts! No more exhibitions. Although Mississippi Valley State is baaaaaaaaad. Time for the bench to get some minutes and prove that they have some value. Can Brady Heiman build off of his solid exhibition game against Wayne State, or was that a fluke? Can Palmer and Copeland find their shots? No more time to mess around.

Robin Washut (Husker Online) / Shut Up Sipple

-Was Brady Heiman’s performance against Wayne State something to believe in or just a fluke?

-Do you expect Nebraska football to win their next 3 games? What does that do for next year’s expectation?

-Any concern for Palmer and Copeland’s poor shooting in scrimmage and exhibition?

Nebraska has a legitimate shot of having a 1,000 yard rusher and 2 1,000 yard receivers this year…how important is it for that to happen for recruiting purposes?

-Nebraska is putting up big offensive yardage numbers this year, which was expected under Scott Frost. But Devine Ozigbo needs 204 rushing yards over the next 3 games to get to 1,000 yards; J.D. Spielman needs 253 receiving yards; and Stanley Morgan needs 275 receiving yards. Imagine talking to a recruit and showing that your offense is capable of putting up big yardage both on the ground and through the air. That sells…right?

-Although the record isn’t what we want, think about this: in Frost’s first year…a rough year for the overall record, but still could have not only the first 1,000 yard receiver in program history…but possibly 2 of them!

Nebraska has 3 games left…how should they incorporate the 4-game redshirt rule and get guys involved in games?

-We saw on Saturday that Breon Dixon made the trip and was on the roster, and even if he plays the next 3 games, he’ll be eligible to redshirt, as Scott Frost intends for him to do. How do you get other guys on the field that might redshirt, though? Can you afford to? You’re still trying to win games…

-Also, SONG OF THE DAY:

Nebrasketball’s season tips off tonight, and bracketologists think this team could go to the Sweet 16…would Sorensen survive if that happened?

-We all know that Nebraska is the only Power 5 team that’s never won an NCAA Tournament game. That’s news to no one. However, if they were to win their first game this year and then win in the 2nd round and make the 2nd weekend…before Creighton has ever achieved that accomplishment…Sorensen is worried he wouldn’t be able to survive to see the day

-Andy Katz has Nebraska as a 4-seed and playing Kansas in the Sweet 16…imagine if that happened.
