Are people pumped for a big-market World Series, starting tonight?

-It’s Red Sox/Dodgers in the Fall Classic starting tonight, and Jake can’t get a feel for whether the teams will get the average baseball fan watching, or if they are too boring to watch. There’s no doubt it’s great for L.A. and Boston as big markets, and good for baseball, but what about here in Lincoln? Does this matchup excite you at all?

Robin Washut (Husker Online) / Shut Up Sipple

-Biggest takeaways from the stat sheet from Nebrasketball’s loss to Iowa State?

-Surprised Nebrasketball was not ranked in preseason AP Top 25 poll (5th in receiving votes…30th essentially? What do you expect to see in tomorrow’s open scrimmage?

-Is Adrian Martinez better than you expected or did you think he’d be this good his freshman year?

We are through 7 games of the Scott Frost era…are you starting to think he is right when he initially said that B1G defenses will have to adjust to Nebraska’s offense instead of vice versa?

-Yes, Nebraska is only 1-6 on the season, but they’ve put up big yardage in every game except for Troy and Michigan. Some of those yards came in garbage time, but hey, it’s a process here. And now, they seem to be gelling. If they played a team like Michigan again with a great defense, would they able to move the ball better and have time to throw? Maybe not yet. But eventually?

-It was a big statement by Frost then, and we doubt he regrets it. He meant it. And with 659 yards against Minnesota being just the latest 500+ yards of offense game, is Frost on to something here? And how many other offenses in the B1G, if any, can say that defenses have to adjust to them?

Is there any way you could convince Jeff Brohm that Purdue is a better job than his alma mater if they come calling?

-Louisville is 0-4 in conference play this year in the ACC and it seems all but certain they will be firing Bobby Petrino at the end of this year. The obvious name to come to mind is Jeff Brohm, as it should be, to replace him. Could you convince him that his chance to excel higher is at Purdue and not at Louisville?

Scott Frost has something already that Mike Riley never had at Nebraska…and its importance cannot be overstated

-We’ve all raved about Adrian Martinez’s skills so far, and for good reason. But the recruiting pitch to him is so much easier than it was during the entire 3-year stretch of Riley. Why? Riley got young QBs here (Patrick O’Brien, Tristan Gebbia); but the 3 years Riley was here, he played Tommy Armstrong (the correct choice) for his junior and senior years, and then brought in a junior transfer. Can’t sell long-term QB success with 1-2 year guys

-The effect Martinez could have on recruiting is unreal. Because he is REAL, ACTUAL HOPE. Not “he might be good once he gets the chance to play.” It’s NOW. Recruits are seeing it and they see the potential of him, and that can’t be unstated
