Picks of the Weekend….college football AND NFL!!

Lee Sterling (Paramount Sports) / Shut Up Sipple

Last week: 1-3

This week’s picks:

-Oklahoma (-30) vs. UCLA -Michigan State (-6) vs. Arizona State

-Iowa (-4) vs. Iowa State -Nebraska (-5) vs. Colorado

-NFL: Denver (-3) vs. Seattle -GAME OF THE WEEK: LA Chargers (-3’) vs. Kansas City

Can one game change your overall expectations of the football season?

-If Nebraska loses to Colorado, what does your expectation for the season become? And also, let’s say Nebraska routs Colorado….do you start to think that not only will Nebraska make a bowl game but they also might give the B1G West a run?

-If it’s a close game, win or lose, not sure it changes anyone’s prediction—but a rout either way is definitely possible.

-Eagles/Falcons thoughts…

Oregon State says after their blowout loss to Ohio State, they are done scheduling tough teams in non-conference going forward

-Oregon State A.D. Scott Barnes said Thursday that it’s not good for a rebuilding program to go and get smoked like they did, pointing out that the Beavers did make good money to go out there and that it was agreed to years ago, but isn’t this the weakest thing ever?

Does it bother you when successful coaches step down at an early age?

-Oregon State’s baseball coach, Pat Casey, stepped down from the head coach post yesterday at age 59, despite just coming off of a national championship, and accumulating 900+ wins in his tenure with the program

-When we look at coaching nowadays, they’re going longer in their tenures (see Saban, Bill Snyder, etc.)…but guys like Bob Stoops and even Tom Osborne stepped down earlier than people thought they should have…does that bother you or do you respect it?
