June 17th: Ed Orgeron and Mike Riley made the same mistake last season; one lost his job, though, and the other is hanging on for dear life

-Orgeron admitted yesterday that he made a mistake in hiring Matt Canada as offensive coordinator last year, a person he had never worked with ever before, despite Canada having success at Wisconsin and Pittsburgh; LSU’s offense finished 9th in the SEC and Canada was fired after one season, and Orgeron has the hottest seat in college football

-Riley did the same thing with Bob Diaco, and it led to his demise; they’d never worked before, and he was just a ‘hot’ name. Doesn’t this make you cautious in desiring big name coordinators in the future if they have no history with your head coach, even with a flashy resume?

June 17th: Shereef Mitchell says Creighton has a better chance of winning championships than Nebrasketball, is he 100% right? / Shut Up Sipple

-Mitchell was on with 1620 on Friday and said that most kids from Omaha want to go to Creighton and not Nebrasketball, and it’s not hard to understand why: although Creighton hasn’t made it to the Sweet 16, they have been a consistent NCAA Tourney team where Nebraska hasn’t. Would anything in life be sweeter than making the Sweet 16 before Creighton does?

June 17th: Developing a leader: How long will it take for Nebraska’s new QB to take command of the offense and of the team?

-We saw Taylor Martinez and Tommy Armstrong both take the role of QB in their redshirt freshman years; Martinez took the world by storm, but his maturity and leadership skills were questioned, really throughout his entire tenure (see freshman year: Texas A&M game). And Armstrong? He struggled at times and split the season with Ron Kellogg III as Martinez sat out with injury

-Is it fair to expect Martinez/Gebbia to come out guns blazing like T-Magic did in 2010? And can that also come with leadership skills, not just good personal play on the field?

June 17th: Does the rule change of the MLB All-Star Game no longer deciding home-field advantage for the World Series make you less interested in watching?

-It was that way for a long time, then in 2003, Bud Selig changed it to deciding the home field for the World Series…and then new commissioner Rob Manfred changed it back in 2017 to how it was previously. Do you still care to watch? Or is this how it always should have been?

June 17th: Stanley Morgan, Jerald Foster and Mick Stoltenberg headed to B1G Media Days for Nebraska…do you see those 3 as the team leaders?

-Seems like a good 3 candidates to go for most people from Nebraska. Does this team have good leadership overall on the roster? It’s fair to question personnel leadership after a 4-8 campaign where it appeared the team gave up on the season early. Can that be overcome in one offseason?
