June 25th: Edwin Jackson signs with the A’s, making it his record 13th team he’s played with…is that something to be proud of or not?

-Obviously, being in the majors that long is impressive, but it shows that he never was really that great because he bounced around on a lot of short-term deals

June 25th: Is going smaller on the offensive line the way to true success for Scott Frost? / Shut Up Sipple

-Nebraskans of the past prided themselves on having massive, strong, fast offensive linemen, but Scott Frost’s offense is fast and requires mostly fast linemen; not huge. Will that work in the B1G?

June 25th: Does Scott Frost’s system make it easier to find an effective QB?

-Fans always want the flashy 4 and 5-star QB, but Frost’s offense is all about speed and playing quick. That’s not always going to get you a 5-star QB….often times, mobile QBs are assessed a 3-star rating if they are lacking true throwing prowess

-Think of some of the most successful mobile QBs of the recent past: Baker Mayfield (barely recruited at all); Johnny Manziel (recruited by Texas as a DB); Taylor Martinez (recruited as an athlete, not a QB)….why is it so hard to predict success, and does the mobile QB desire make it easier to recruit?

June 25th: How do you keep players interested in the midst of a terrible season?

-Back to the Royals again—at the midway point of the season, they are beyond God awful and going nowhere. Players are playing different positions for the hell of it. How do you keep their interest when they know the season is going nowhere?

-Also, SONG OF THE DAY:

June 25th: Is Tre Bryant and the running the game the biggest ‘what if’ for Nebraska in 2018?

-There are lots of areas of intrigue across the roster, but a healthy Bryant could change the complexity of the running backs and how they’re viewed entirely. If Bryant’s injured again and Greg Bell is the primary back, you have Jaylin Bradley, Mikale Wilbon and Devine Ozigbo as the backups. Quite a dropoff from what a healthy Bryant could bring…

June 25th: Does Year 1 of Scott Frost feel more like a Year 0 or an exhibition year?

-SB Nation’s Bill Connelly went through his preseason assessment of Nebraska football and said that Nebraska has the right coach, but 2018 should be viewed as more of a Year 0 than it should be a Year 1 for Frost….are you OK with viewing this season as an exhibition of sorts?

-It is really hard to tell Nebraska fans to not have expectations for a season, but that’s what we’re being told. Enjoy the ride, the growth—but don’t expect much results. How do you handle that?
